Norovirus breaks out on the Appalachian Trail

If you are hiking the Appalachian Trail this year be aware that Norovirus hit the trail earlier this year. Norovirus is transfered from fecal matter. This can come from rodents and humans, and is contagious for up to 2 weeks after coming in contact. Use extra caution in shelters or surfaces used for meal prep and eating. To prevent the spread of the virus you should be washing your hands frequently with soap and water. Hand sanitizer alone does not kill the virus. Please be safe and and enjoy your time on the trail.
